Dr. Phil Levitt trained in neurosurgery in the 1970’s at NYU when it had one of the five best residency programs in America according to a professors’ poll in the journal Surgical Neurology. He was awarded a research prize by the American EEG Society for a series of experiments on the electrical effects of blood coating the surface of the brain and published several other papers.  He spent 31 years practicing in Palm Beach County, Florida.  He spent five of his practice years as chief of staff at two hospitals and gained an intimate knowledge of how hospitals and medical staffs are run and has strong opinions on how the coming changes in health care are likely to play out.  He is also a patient and had been on increasingly expensive private insurance. He is now on Medicare and is  retired. He lives in West Palm Beach with his wife Sandie.
